How does screening assessment fit into a school’s structured literacy program? How do school leaders use the Science of Reading to select screening tools that best inform instruction in core and intervention? Learn the “why” and “how” of screening and begin to understand how to interpret your child’s results to identify their strengths and needs and advocate for targeted, scientifically based instruction. Topics include:

Jennifer Cyr is a school reading specialist and teacher leader in Rochester, NH. She is a passionate advocate for the implementation of scientifically based practices. She has been a literacy coach going back to Reading First, and helps to implement program training in her district. In addition to teaching, Jenn is proud to be secretary of the NHIDA, is a moderator on the Science of Reading: What I Should Have Learned in College Facebook page, and is a local LETRS Facilitator.


Heidi has developed a strong background in literacy through working as an elementary classroom teacher, reading and writing specialist, Reading First Coach, OG Practitioner, and is currently the Curriculum Director in the Rochester School Department in Rochester, N.H. Heidi is a certified local LETRS, DIBELS, and SRSD trainer and her passion for supporting literacy in all learners can be seen in the work she has done to raise awareness of dyslexia in the K-16 arena. Heidi actively consults with other school districts specializing in literacy, data teams, and the change process and serves on the NHIDA board as the conference chair.

If you don't know about the fact sheets, be sure to check them out; they're current, relevant, and full of great information. In addition to our board member panelists, each session includes a guest speaker or speakers with deep knowledge of the topic.
