Your input is needed!

NHCO is developing a new strategic plan, and we are seeking feedback from volunteers to help shape our mission and impact for years to come.

Would you be willing to participate in a one-hour guided listening session in January 2026 to share your ideas?

Listening sessions will be virtual meetings, with a video call link sent prior to the session. For the 2pm sessions, participants have the choice to come in person to an NHCO office and use an NHCO computer to connect to the virtual meeting.

Help our Older Neighbors Stay Connected

"I just wanted to get out of the house and help out a little bit," said Chuck, a volunteer driver with NHCO's Free Rides for Seniors (FRFS) Program.

FRFS is more than just a ride to a doctor’s appointment. Its extra benefit eases loneliness and isolation that so many older adults experience. We need volunteer drivers and dispatchers to help our older neighbors stay active, independent, and connected. It’s a simple commitment that brings big smiles—and meaningful friendships.

Not sure if it’s for you? Come along for a ride and check it out. No pressure, just a chance to see how rewarding it can be.

Interested? Reach out at volunteer@NHCO.org. We can’t wait to meet you!

Thumbs Up!

The Volunteer Who Brightens Every Wednesday

For more than 10 years, Matt has volunteered at NHCO’s Millvale Office. With focused determination, he vacuums, dusts, cleans, and shreds paper. But his greatest gift is his ability to make everyone smile. He greets visitors, volunteers and staff with great glee and warmth.

“When I hear Matt's voice on Wednesday mornings, I feel something shift," said Genevieve Volpe, NHCO Millvale Office Manager. "I find myself happily discussing Penguins hockey with Matt (something I know nothing about). Aside from introducing me to Sidney Crosby, Matt reminds me that joy can be found amidst profound suffering.”
