Client Services Volunteers Needed

Join our team of “people helping people!”

Assist staff and clients with intakes, phone calls and utility assistance applications. This can include scheduling appointments for utility assistance applications with clients and meeting with folks one-on-one. This hands-on opportunity will make a positive difference in the lives of the people we serve. For more information, please contact Genevieve Volpe at grvolpe@NHCO.org or 412-676-7623

Front Desk Volunteer Needed in the North Boroughs

Be the welcoming face at NHCO! Greet clients and visitors, answer phone calls and help schedule appointments. A fun and social way to help your community. Interested? Please contact Angie Spess at amspess@NHCO.org or 412-487-6316 x3322

Volunteer with Our
Services for Older Adults Program

Free Rides for Seniors Shuttle

We need both volunteer drivers and dispatchers to keep this vital service running. It’s a fun and rewarding way to connect with neighbors while helping older adults get where they need to go. Interested? Join us for a ride and see for yourself. We would love to meet you! Email volunteer@NHCO.org to learn more.

Volunteer Drivers Needed!

Meet Dick and Harold – Two individuals who have greatly benefited

from these programs.

Volunteer drivers help older adults stay independent by providing transportation to doctor visits, the grocery store, and other important errands. You decide when you’re available, and we’ll match rides to fit your schedule. Interested in volunteering helping older adults? Please contact Angie Spess at amspess@NHCO.org or 412-487-6316 x3322.

Neighborhood Ambassadors

NHCO has a busy lineup of tabling events this fall, and we’d love to have your friendly presence there! Volunteers help us share our mission, greet neighbors, connect with potential donors, and meet community members who may benefit from our services. Interested in joining us? Reach out to Abby Kelly at aekelly@NHCO.org or 412-487-6316 x3205.

Our Salvation Army Kettle Campaign

Will Start Ringing Very Soon!

The Salvation Army Kettle Campaign is just around the corner! We’ll be sharing details soon on how you can sign up to be a bell ringer and spread holiday cheer while supporting neighbors in need. Stay tuned for more information!

Help Keep Kids Warm This Winter

We’re collecting and distributing new coats to children ages infant to 18-years-old. New hats, scarves and gloves are also being accepted. Gift cards to purchase coats are also greatly appreciated.

Donations can be dropped off at any of our three offices, or you can order from our Amazon Wish list and have the coats shipped directly to us.

Youth Volunteers

Does your school or other organizations require Volunteer Service Hours? Start clocking in those hours early while the volunteer opportunities are available. Avoid waiting until the end of the school year when most of NHCO’s opportunities are taken.

Youth Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Hold Collections for NHCO’s food pantries and seasonal Sharing Projects
  • Gardening at our community garden
  • Grounds Work and/or building maintenance at NHCO’s Allison Park office

Thumbs Up!

Meet Marianne, our Millvale Client Services Volunteer.

With her bright smile and cheery attitude, she assists staff and clients with intakes, phone calls and utility assistance applications.

"The Needs are so great….When you get one client, one day, who leaves happy and satisfied, it’s worth every minute of it."
