Mind Matters
Northland Healthy Minds envisions a world where anyone can get the support and assistance they deserve for their mental illness without fear of discrimination, marginalization, and criminalization due to stigma.

This newsletter provides updates about news and events in our area supporting our vision and mission.
Will Your Organization Help Make It OK?
A recent  article in the Harvard Business Review states, “W e need more flexibility, sensitivity, and open-mindedness from employers. The same treatment and attention they’d give to a broken bone or maternity leave. We’re not there yet, but some companies are trying to bring conversations about mental health to the forefront.” The Make It Ok campaign  is a great way to start this conversation and increase awareness regarding mental health and mental illness in the work place.

Northland Healthy Minds will have an updated 2019 Make It OK tool-kit for employers which includes a step by step implementation plan to prepare for Mental Health Awareness month in May. The updated tool-kit will be available in March. Employer orientations will also be held for anyone that wants to learn more about the Make it OK campaign and how to implement in the workplace. Save the date to attend one of the following employer orientations. Registration and further details will be available next month.

  • Wednesday, March 27 11:30-12:30pm - Public Safety Building
  • Wednesday, April 3 12:00-1:00pm- Government Services Building
  • Thursday, April 4 5:00-6:00pm- Denfeld High School- This is not confirmed yet

If you know of an upcoming event that attendance from NHM would serve our mission, please let us know by emailing event details to Shannon. Please include as much detailed info as you can prior to submitting.
