Mi Clínica Mi Comunidad: Hispanic Physician Leadership in Clinical Research
During Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate the contributions of Hispanic physicians and recognize their role in advancing health equity. That leadership is especially important in clinical research, where greater representation among investigators can help build trust, strengthen community engagement and ensure that research questions reflect the needs of diverse patient populations.
Hispanic physicians are uniquely positioned to connect their patients and communities with clinical research opportunities. By introducing research as a part of routine care and helping patients understand the potential benefits of participation, providers can help address longstanding barriers to enrollment and representation. Mi Clínica Mi Comunidad is committed to partnering with Hispanic physicians to expand access to clinical research and ensure that underserved communities have a voice in shaping the treatments and healthcare of the future.

The American Medical Association has released a patient guide explaining how
H.R. 1 changes Medicaid, CHIP, Medicare and Marketplace eligibility for some non-U.S. citizens between 2026 and 2027. The guide outlines which immigration groups are affected, key dates (including Medicaid and CHIP changes taking effect October 1, 2026), how to appeal a coverage notice and where patients can still find care, such as state programs, Marketplace plans and federally qualified health centers. A helpful resource to share with patients and communities navigating these changes.

Lupus in Our Comunidad: Know the Signs
This Hispanic Heritage Month, let's raise awareness about lupus and its impact on our community. Lupus disproportionately affects minorities, including Hispanic/Latina women, who are 2–3 times more likely to develop lupus compared with non-Hispanic white women. Lupus can affect many parts of the body, including the kidneys, making early recognition of symptoms and timely care especially important.Through sponsorship support from Biogen and educational initiatives at NHMA, we're working to increase awareness and encourage proactive health decisions that can support healthier outcomes. For health care professionals: Explore LupusHub360, a comprehensive resource featuring lupus education, research publications and insights into investigational treatments for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE).
