Postal Food Drive
Saturday, May 11 is the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive for Postal Carriers!!

Last year, NHN received more than 2,600 pounds of food through this event. We appreciate the efforts of the postal workers and customers who contribute. This is a great example of everyone in the community coming together to address food insecurity!

Thank You!
The April 12th Day of Giving for Amherst County High School was a highlight this month!

The students stepped up to make a difference in our community by helping clean and organize the warehouse at NHN. Thank you, ACHS students for all your hard work and Day Of Giving organizers for making an impact on the next generation!
Little Hands, Big Hearts!
Thanks to Nelson County Girl Scout Troop #1264 for bringing food donations to the warehouse on Monday, April 22, when they toured the facility. It's encouraging to see even the youngest stepping up to make a difference!
Neighbors Helping Neighbors appreciates our community for the many ways they support our mission.

ARC of Virginia
NHN would like to recognize the ARC of Virginia who committed to setting up two Wednesdays a month in the dining room for MHBC Food Kitchen guests. We appreciate their hard work and cheerful spirits as they serve others. Great work, Gentlemen!
Ascension Episcopal Church Food Kitchen
NHN would like to recognize Ascension Episcopal Church for opening their facilities to operate the NHN Food Kitchen each week. Their willingness to share storage space and the regular use of their equipment is such a blessing to so many!
NHN is so thankful for the Volunteers at Ascension in Amherst who work hard to ensure guests have delicious hot meals and sweet treats. Not only do the volunteers prepare meals for the guests that come out, they also prepare an average of 20 take out meals weekly for the residents of Amherst Village Apartments. Since many of them have no access to transportation, the residents are always so grateful for the meals .

We would like to recognize volunteer, Jean Thacker for our April volunteer spotlight. A lifetime Amherst County resident and retired nurse, Jean exercises her gift of good cooking to the delight of guests in the Ascension and MHBC Food Kitchens. Her cooking has crossed the borders of the food kitchens to tempt palates during fund raising events for NHN, as well. We salute you, Jean!
