Seniors reppin' their next step!

Principal's Message:

Dear Novato High School Families,

Academically, our AP testing is underway and there is a coordinated effort by all of us to embrace the importance of keeping our campus an optimum environment for test taking. Our teachers and staff are working to finalize the year by providing strong and continued instruction and keeping our students on task. I have noticed a strong commitment to ensuring bell to bell teaching and learning.

Fewer and fewer students are out of class and the Edficency is working efficiently. As we supervise the campus, our campus supervisors are reporting less disturbance and fewer incidents of disrespect and/or disobedience. This is great news but we cannot let up. We must hold the line and continue our vigilance for security and safety and holding those students who refuse to follow our rules accountable.

Water guns have become a problem at Novato High School and to be clear, administration is vigorously pursuing the confiscation of water guns. We recently confiscated over 30 of these toys. We will inform parents of students who continue to violate the school rules. The games some students are playing with these toys are disruptive to the teaching and learning environment.

We had a phenomenal staff meeting and accomplished some very important tasks. The teaching staff will be voting soon on two options for the bell schedule for the 2023-24 school year. Both good choices and will provide continuity in our instructional programs. Once we decide the bell schedule for next year we can move on with finalizing next year’s planning.

We have spent hours planning next year’s opening. Our goal is to inform everyone exactly how NHS will open and therefore have a fantastic opening for the 2023-24 school year. We will share detailed information so are incoming 9th graders and next year’s 10th, 11th and 12th graders can plan accordingly.

Graduation is right around the corner. It‘s important for all seniors to ensure they are ready for the big day. Senior activities leading up to graduation are also coming up sooner that we can image. Prom, Senior Breakfast, and Graduation are amazing events and we expect each and every senior to conduct themselves as the phenomenal people they are.

Sincerely,

Rey Mayoral, Interim Principal

ATTENTION SENIORS:

Don't forget to apply for scholarships! Every year, thousands of dollars of FREE money goes unclaimed because students don't apply for local scholarships. Your go-to hub for applications and instructions is the Naviance Scholarship database. Here are some upcoming deadlines that are quickly approaching:

  • Brett Barrett Scholarship, May 9 deadline
  • Novato High Boosters Athletic Scholarship, May 16 deadline
  • The McIntyre Charitable Fund Athletic Scholarship, May 19 deadline
  • MASQUE Performing Art Scholarship, May 19 deadline
  • Filipino-Americans of Marin Scholarship, May 20 deadline

If you are awarded a scholarship from a local organization, be sure to send them a thank you note! These financial awards are being provided by generous community members who care about your future. An expression of gratitude is a meaningful gesture that would mean a lot to them.

SENIOR AWARDS NIGHT - MAY 18TH
