Michigan Joins States Planning to Reopen Construction
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is planning to sign an executive order on Friday to reopen the state's construction industry, effective May 7. The move comes as most construction in the state outside of essential work like energy facilities, specific roads, and waterways has been halted as part of the Governor's "Stay Home, Stay Safe" executive order of March 23, issued in an attempt to control the spread of COVID-19. New York Announces More Reopening Plan Details
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced additional details on the state’s reopening plan, including the formation of a reopening advisory board. The phased reopening plan will be evaluated on a regional basis as each region meets specific threshold criteria. Phase One for each region will include opening construction and manufacturing functions with low risk. Each business and industry that is permitted to reopen must have a plan to protect employees from the risk of infection. Click here to read more.

FEMA has issued a useful fact sheet on best practices for PPE preservation. Click here for the fact sheet. FEMA also has issued guidance for addressing PPE in non-healthcare settings, summarizing how organizations can manage PPE needs during the COVID-19 pandemic response. Click here to read more.
Airline Updates: Jet Blue to Require Face Coverings Starting May 4, and American and United to Encourage Face Mask Usage
Based on the latest CDC guidelines and new state and local laws, all JetBlue crew members have begun wearing face masks in public. Starting May 4, all customers must wear a face covering while traveling, including in flight, as well as during check-in, boarding, and deplaning. American Airlines, starting in early May, will require flight attendants to wear masks on all flights. Every flight will be supplied with masks and other sanitizing items for crew members. American is encouraging passengers to wear face coverings and will begin to offer sanitizing wipes and face masks to passengers. Click here to read more.

At United Airlines, new procedures are in place, including new boarding procedures, blocking the middle seats, and requiring all employees to wear masks. In early May, United is making masks available to customers. Click here to read more.
