Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) Update
The House of Representatives passed H.R.7010 by 417-1. Rep. Massie from Kentucky voted no. The bill will now go to the Senate for a vote or committee mark up. H.R.7010 extends the 8 week forgiveness deadline to 24 weeks and the deadline for rehiring workers to June 30. It also loosens restrictions limiting non-payroll expenses to 40% (from 25%) and the 2-year repayment timeline to 5 years. The Senate is also considering several other related bills S.3833 and S.3805, which amend the Small Business Act and the CARES Act to modify certain provisions related to the forgiveness of loans under the paycheck protection program, and to allow recipients of loan forgiveness under the paycheck protection program to defer payroll taxes.
