Congress Votes to Extend Paycheck Protection Program to August 8
The Senate acted by unanimous consent to extend the Tuesday midnight deadline for when the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) can accept applications for forgivable loans for an additional 5 weeks. It came as the program was poised to shut down to new users with more than $130 billion left untapped. On Wednesday evening, the House passed its extension, also unanimously. Main Street Lending Program off to Slow Start
Federal Reserve officials say only 200 banks have signed up to participate since the Main Street Lending Program (MSLP) began 2 weeks ago, a mere 4% of the nation’s roughly 5,000 lenders. None have made any loans yet. Click here to read more.
OSHA Resources to Prevent Summer Heat Exposure
Most outdoor fatalities, 50% to 70%, occur in the first few days of working in warm or hot environments because the body needs to build a tolerance to the heat gradually over time. OSHA’s Occupational Heat Exposure web page explains the symptoms of indoor and outdoor heat illness, first aid measures to provide while waiting for help, proactive engineering controls and work practices to reduce workers’ exposure to heat, and training.
