NIA joined industry group in opposition to provisions regarding building codes in the Safeguarding Tomorrow through Ongoing Risk Mitigation (STORM) Technical Corrections Act, HR 5673, as it passed the House of Representatives. Far from technical corrections, this act would weaken important language on building codes in the STORM Act. Read the letter.

NIA and nearly 200 organizations sent a letter to Congressional leaders to oppose two tax policies under consideration that would affect millions of small businesses by expanding the 3.8% NET Investment Income Tax (NIIT) and limiting small, individually, and family-owned businesses to fully deduct their losses during an economic downturn. July is Extreme Heat Safety Month. OSHA recommends that employers implement a heat illness prevention program as part of their safety and health management system and ensure workers know what to do if someone shows the signs of heat illness.
