End of Year Award Ceremonies
Our 1st through 6th grade End of Year Award Ceremonies
will be conducted online through Zoom on
Friday, May 22nd .
Times are listed below:
1st Grade: 10:30am
2nd Grade: 11:30am
3rd - 6th Grade: 12:00pm
You should be receiving a link from your student's teacher to attend
this Zoom session. We look forward to rewarding the great
accomplishments of our students!

Holiday
We will be observing the Memorial Day holiday on
Monday, May 25th .
No online instruction will be given on this day.
School offices will be closed as well.
POWWOW
Join us on Facebook for our weekly POWWOWs every Tuesday morning!
Students will receive a participation grade for watching the POWWOW videos each week.
Send in video clips of your student(s) saying the pledges, singing the school song, or doing the PRIDE chant to mschwendemann@newmanacademy.org to be featured in future POWWOW presentations.
Refunds
We are issuing refunds for those who paid for a cap and gown or a cancelled field trip. Refund dates are scheduled on the following Tuesdays, 5/19 and 5/26 . The office will be open from 9:00am-3:00pm to issue your refund. You must bring a Car Tag or ID to receive your student's refund. Please email Ms. Bright at abright@newmanacademy.org if you have any questions.
***No refunds will be given from May 27th - 29th.***
Online Chess & Robotics
Online Chess and Robotics will soon be available to our students. Be on the lookout for more information on our District Facebook page.
Summer School Survey
Online Summer School will be broken up into 2 sessions. June 8th - 25th and July 13th - 30th. Each will be online instruction Monday-Thursday.

Gift Cards
We are still collecting gift cards for our Teachers. Cards can be dropped off from 9:00am to 3:00pm Monday - Friday. Please be sure to write on the gift card, the student's name of whom it's from and the teacher's name of who the gift card belongs to.

Wellness Wisdom
Bike Safely Tips:

Always inspect your bike prior to riding.
  1. Proper seat height and locked in place
  2. Check that tires are inflated properly
  3. Make sure you are seen: Wear bright colors
  4. Make sure that the bike is equipped with reflectors.
  5. A horn or bell helps you be heard.

How to properly fit the helmet:
  1. adjust sizing pads until helmet is snug.
  2. position the helmet level on your head. Approximately 2 finger widths about the eyebrow.
  3. Adjust the side straps so they form a "V" shaper under and slightly in front of ears.
  4. Center the buckle on the chin strap under your chin
  5. buckle and tighten the chin strap until is snug. No more than 2 fingers should be able to fit between the chin and strap.
  6. when fitted, the helmet should not rock more than 1 inch side to side or front to back.

Rules of the Road:
  1. Bicyclist must follow the same rules as cars.
  2. Ride single-file in the direction of traffic.
  3. Use hand signals when turning
  4. Look all directions before entering traffic.
