In honor of First Korean UMC in Wheeling's 100th anniversary of ministry this year, Illinois Sen. Laura Murphy (28th District) honored the church’s ministries and history. The church “has developed a unique historical identity as a national church, a mother church, and a pioneer church,” says a proclamation from the Illinois General Assembly that was signed by Sen. Murphy. Look forward to learning more about this church’s important legacy and hopeful future.
United Methodist Foundation of the Northern Illinois Conference is now the Midwest Methodist Foundation. The Foundation serves an increasingly diverse group of clients, and the new name recognizes the broader reach of the foundation since its inception in 1949.It’s still offering the same services. And it continues as a member of the National Association of United Methodist Foundations (NAUMF).

The NIC Prayer Network’s July Prayer Calendar is now posted. This guide unites conference members in praying for churches, pastors, district, and conference leadership, and Advance ministries. The webpage also provides a devotional for the month. Look up the list and join the conference in prayer. 

The Asian American and Pacific Islander Clergywomen Association will gather for its biennial conference Oct. 16-18 in Chicago under the theme “Rest and Renewal.” Dr. Mai-Anh Le Tran of Garrett-Evangelical Seminar will be guest speaker. United Women in Faith offers a scholarship for women pursuing a church-related vocation, whether in parish ministry, the lay diaconate (deaconesses), Christian education, or a similar field. To qualify, applicants must be accepted by an accredited graduate school, reside in the Northern Illinois Conference, demonstrate financial need, and supply a copy of their school transcript.
