School of Leadership Calls Clergy to Imagine What’s Next

More than 250 clergy from the Wisconsin and Northern Illinois Conferences gathered at Green Lake Conference Center for the 2026 School of Leadership, a three-day gathering focused on leadership development, connection and innovation. Led by Rev. Dr. Kenda Creasy Dean and Scott Pontier of Ministry Architects, sessions explored how Christian innovation can help the church navigate changing communities, ministry models and expectations.

Bishop Schwerin encouraged participants to lean on one another during this season of transition. “We’re heading into a moment when our communities and our churches need the best hopeful imagination all of us can summon. And the truth is, I need you. We need each other.” The gathering invited clergy to look beyond familiar models and imagine new ways of leading the church into the future. More.

11-site VBS event welcomes 2,500 kids in Burundi

For one week in August, churches across Burundi became classrooms, sanctuaries, and gathering places as 2,500 children and youth came together to discover the Christian faith.

More than 870 teachers and staff members led the Burundi Annual Conference’s 2026 national Vacation Bible School (VBS), which had the theme "Growing in God's Grace." The program took place in eleven parishes and was financed by the Burundi Annual Conference, parents, and Discipleship Ministries. Attendees experienced Bible teaching, worship, games, fellowship, and discipleship. They learned the Scriptures, made friends, and reflected on what it means to live out one's faith every day. More
