Well Done

"May my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on the new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants." Deuteronomy 32:2

It is hard to believe that the end of another academic year is almost here. Time passes so quickly as schools and classrooms are filled with eager students, dedicated teachers, and lots of learning takes place. Take a moment and reflect on where God blessed you to instruct His Lambs in these last months. You have been led and taught too.

Some of you may have been like me and focused on a verse from Scripture to direct you through the days, weeks, and months of the year.

I often used the passage printed above. I prayed that God would use my teaching to “fall like rain” and help the students grow just as the rain causes tender plants to sprout. I always entered a new school year focusing on how God would use me to assist in the education of the children. How would they sprout and grow throughout the year?

You have served faithfully and each child has sprouted like that tender plant referred to in Deuteronomy 32:2. As I visited the schools the LCMS Northern Illinois District this year, it was a blessing to see and hear how you were assisting the growth of each child, especially in their spiritual walk. I heard so many sharing the love of Jesus and reassuring the children that they are precious in the sight of the Savior!

So, as you have tended to the children, now I'll share a poem that I came upon recently to wrap up the idea of where you started in August…

The Little Plant

In the heart of a seed,

Buried deep so deep,

A tiny plant

Lay fast asleep.

"Wake," said the sunshine,

"And creep to the light."

"Wake," said the voice

Of the raindrops bright.

The little plant heard

And it rose to see,

What the wonderful,

Outside world might be.

To many children this year, you were the sunshine and the raindrops. You have prepared them well for the "outside world" and the next step in their learning.

Well done. Thank you for your dedication. To God be the glory of each of our schools and the faithful workers.

Enjoy a blessed summer!

Wellness Corner: Is self-care selfish?

It can feel wrong to prioritize our own needs when there’s always more to do. But Scripture paints a different picture.

Jesus rested. He prayed. He stepped away to recharge. What if caring for ourselves isn’t selfish, but necessary for loving others well? In this week’s blog post, discover why caring for yourself is part of loving others well and how even small acts of stewardship can glorify God.

Hearts for Jesus

The "Hearts for Jesus" focus this school year has been a starting point as donations are collected for the Vacation Bible School program. The program is being updated and given new energy. We get to be good neighbors and then speak the Living Hope we have in our Savior. We get to connect the community with the mission. Word, Wellness, and Witness are all part of the daily walk in Seine Bight where Jesus is the center. The VBS team members love Jesus so much and share that love with all the children in Seine Bight. Let’s be prayerful to support this "Hearts of Jesus" endeavor.

If you have donations to send for "Hearts for Jesus 2026," please be encouraged to submit those by June 15, 2026. Many thanks again for all ministries that faithfully supported the initiative this past school year. See the link below for more information.
