Be Clothed in Christ

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.”
Colossians 3:12

We are blessed to serve each day. Colossians 3:12 reminds us that we are chosen for service and witnessing. God has placed you where you are now for a specific reason and purpose. Serve with enthusiasm and dedication. We are to be ready to serve when the call comes.

There is evidence of service all around The Northern Illinois District. Some examples of service would be: food pantries, baby banks, assembling care packages for Phil’s Friends, writing letters to veterans, remodeling projects at the maternity house, etc. ... As God clothes us with service characteristics, may we step out and find ways to serve His church.

We are blessed to be a blessing as we lead by example. Involve the youth and give them opportunities to serve in the congregation, community, and beyond. That nurturing will encourage service in the future for our congregations and beyond. You are all called, chosen, and sent by Christ in all things!

As we place our faith and trust in God, we can all be thankful that God holds us in the palm of His hand and gives us what He knows is best for us. So, when trials come, step back and know God’s plan is perfect. Stay in the Word. Take care of yourself to be Well. Use your words and life as a Witness. ‘In All Things,’ God is faithful.

Remember each day – Christ loves you and holds you close.

Giving Thanks for Lutheran Education – Meet the Assistants to the President
Pastor John Prohl serves as an assistant to President Buss helping church workers, congregations, and ministries going through difficult situations. Previously he served for 12 years as a hospital chaplain and for 30 years as pastor of two different NID congregations. His Confirmation verse and constant encouragement is Romans 1:16. “I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.”
Rev. Kris Whitby served for 24 years as a parish pastor, both in Florida and the NID. During that time he was also honored to serve as the national LWML pastoral counselor, as well as our District’s North Region Vice President for five years. Pastor Kris and his wife, Marguerita, currently enjoy life in Palatine and are celebrating the birth of their first grandchild, Colby McCormack.

Pastor’s favorite Scripture passage is Galatians 6:9-10. “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially those who are of the household of faith.”

Thank you in advance for taking personal responsibility to follow the face masking requirement and remaining respectful of all members of our University community.
