We Are So Blessed

"This is the day the LORD has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it."  Psalm 118:24

We see evidence that the seasons are changing. The temperatures are a little cooler, it gets dark a little earlier, vegetation is drying up, yet, the glory of God reigns and is evident all around us! Through God’s creative majesty, we are blessed by Him each day. Each new day holds many opportunities to serve Him and those placed along our path. How will you serve?

Sinners as we are, we prefer to serve ourselves and our agenda. Christ served as the Perfect Servant for you! You are Baptized into Him and into His Lifegiving life. Through the blood of Jesus and the waters of Baptism, you are cleansed and made new creations. What a reason to rejoice and be glad! Sometimes serving is hard!

The seasons change, the vegetation dries up, but the love of God never dries up. Let us always stand firm in the faith and follow where God leads us to serve and share His love with others. “The grass withers, flowers fade, but the Word of the Lord endures.” (Isaiah 40:8). Jesus seves you in Holy Communion. He is the meal and the Host.

Knowing that we are forgiven, gives us encouragement and the strength to shar our love for Jesus with others. We are all loved by God and are precious to Him. Continue to place your faith in God. We celebrate that He holds us in the palm of His hand.

Each day, be encouraged to be in the WORD. Take care of yourself to be WELL. May your words and life be a WITNESS to others.

Be uplifted and reminded that you are God’s precious child.

School Administrators

We have 92% of the Statistical Reports submitted. The deadline has passed, BUT don’t be sad. You are still encouraged and able to submit that report. Let’s get 100%! The information that is submitted is very valuable to LCMS School Ministry Office and the NID Education Office to assist all our school ministries with planning and update information.

The early childhood consultants; Amy, Cathy, and Doreen, planned and hosted a great event on Saturday, November 4, 2023. The educators ‘hit the road’ on the ‘Wheels on the Bus Tour’. The group visited three early childhood centers in the central part of the NID (Zion Early Childhood Education Center, Hinsdale; Trinity Lutheran School, Burr Ridge; St. John’s Lutheran School, LaGrange) and saw different instructional models.

Plan ahead for the Winter Administrator Conference at CUC. The date is Monday, February 26. Our topic for this gathering is ‘Maintaining Lutheran Identity in Your School.’

TEC21 Information

If you have a teacher in your school that has not attended the TEC21 training cohort, now would be a great time to have them connect.

Hearts for Jesus

The ‘Hearts for Jesus’ focus this school year will be the expansion of the feeding program into the community of Georgetown. The students in the school will get well prepared meals each day. Prayerfully consider what your part will be in blessing this work in Belize. The attached pictures were taken recently under Miss Nikisha’s home. She has graciously opened up her home to feed the children every day. The beauty behind this is to save on cost of the take away containers and also trash in the country. The students now stay and eat before returning back to school. What a blessing Miss Nikisha is to the students.

SHINE! 2024

Mark your calendars and start planning ahead for how your school, congregation, youth group, small groups, etc., will serve the community during SHINE! 2024. The dates are April 12-21, 2024. Watch for more details coming in all LCMS Northern Illinois District communications.

Make Connections

Looking for opportunities to connect with others in your field? Northern Illinois District networking groups are opportunities that help church workers (especially those that are not pastors or teachers) to connect, build relationships, and gain skills for the Lord’s mission. Would you fit into one of these groups? Check out our list of networking groups at nidlcms.org/networking. Email the District Office at office@nidlcms.org to let us know you are interested in receiving these newsletters with meeting dates or subscribe to publications at nidlcms.org/subscribe.

Illinois Coalition for Nonpublic Schools

The Illinois Coalition for Nonpublic Schools supports our schools in Springfield by having lobbyists representing our Christian beliefs as they are related to items that are being considered for new laws. I forward monthly news items and urgent information that is sent my way. Please be encouraged to visit icns.net and consider joining the coalition as a school member.
