Mondelēz Dinner Recap
Leslie Herzog
| | Pictured are: Spencer Sullivan (Past Chair NYIFT), Dr. Donald W. Schaffner (Speaker), and Suzanne Mutz-Darwell (Chair NYIFT) | |
Mondelēz hosted another sell out NYIFT dinner meeting on Thursday, March 13, 2025 with well over 100 food industry professionals and college students in attendance. I even encountered a high school student from Westchester County who will attend the University of Wisconsin – Madison in the Fall.
The presentation, which captivated the audience, was entitled “ Do More Food Recalls In The News Mean The Food Supply Is Less Safe?” It was given by Dr. Donald W. Schaffner, who is an Extension Specialist in Food Science and Distinguished Professor at Rutgers University. He is also the current Chair of the Department of Food Science.
Mondelēz did an excellent job, setting up and hosting the dinner meeting which included a fabulous Charcuterie Board (accompanied by numerous varieties of delicious Mondelēz crackers), an excellent buffet and plenty of Mondelēz cookies for dessert.
| | |
Mondelēz gave each attendee a bag full of their latest products. We are grateful that they also allowed attendees to shop in their company store to purchase some of their latest cookie and cracker innovations.
We thank the organizing and planning committee at Mondelēz which included: Jill Chritchley, Michele Blandine, Colleen Hennessey, Shreya Ahuja, Sarah Cain, Michael Zaffuto, and Haley Velemirovich.
We know it takes a tremendous effort and are extremely grateful for all that Mondelēz did. We also thank the NYIFT planning committee which included Spencer Sullivan, Suzanne Mutz-Darwell, Katy Taylor, and Gina Cobianchi for pulling together another great NYIFT Dinner Meeting. This was the final NYIFT Dinner meeting for the 2024/2025 NYIFT Year. See calendar below for NYIFT/CNJIFT upcoming events.

We have worked hard to create a newsletter that brings you information about the NYIFT Section and the Central New Jersey Subsection of IFT. The newsletter is delivered to your in-box on the first Tuesday of each month.
As volunteers, it takes a tremendous amount of time each month to prepare and assemble articles for the newsletter. We thank Lynnda Nelson of IAMI for her expertise in laying out the newsletter, pulling all the information together and adding the appropriate graphics and pictures.
You’ll still be getting e-mail blasts reminding you of events from NYIFT and CNJIFT, but we’ll be taking a hiatus from the issuance of monthly newsletters and will be switching to semi-monthly newsletters until August, with the next newsletter scheduled to be issued on June 3rd.
Please send us your thoughts on how the newsletter can be improved. We can be contacted via e-mail at NYIFToffice@NYIFT.org.
