The balance of the program for the 2024/2025 NYIFT/CNJIFT year is still being planned; but will include:

As the new academic year begins, Rutgers Food Science students are eager to embrace fresh opportunities for learning, innovation, and professional development. Before we dive into what’s ahead, let’s take a moment to reflect on the achievements of the past year and use those successes as a foundation for even greater accomplishments.

Last year, the Graduate Student Association (GSA) and the Undergraduate Club worked closely with NYIFT/CNJIFT, bringing more students to the dinner meetings and other activities. Students also played an active role in various events, such as volunteering at Supplier’s Day.

One of the highlights was Student Night, a highly successful event organized by the GSA, which attracted over 90 attendees. This event provided students with valuable insights into possible career paths and opportunities to build connections with industry professionals, as well as showcase their research projects to the attendees.

SAVE the DATE for a Joint NYIFT/CNJIFT meeting on GLP-1 Meds and Food Industry Opportunities!

Plan on joining us for a panel discussion entitled “GLP-1 Weight Loss Medications – Targeted Opportunities for the Food and Supplement Industries".

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at the Grain House Restaurant - Olde Mill Inn Basking Ridge, NJ.

The GLP-1 (Glucagon-like peptide-1) medications phenomenon is expected to cover 10% of the global population by 2030 and demand outpaces supply in many countries. The medically supported weight loss market is projected to reach up to $100 billion by 2030. These weight loss and diabetes control medications should be looked at as an opportunity more than a threat to the Food Industry.

This event will be a panel presentation of 4 speakers and a moderator followed by Q&A with attendees.
