Welcome to the Fall Semester
|
|
Hey, Nighthawks!
My name is Trishvi Nguyen and I would like to welcome you all to NOVA for the 2021-2022 academic year! I am a second-year student studying biology and biochemistry.
It's my honor to serve as your Chairperson for the Student Government Advisory Council (SGAC), which is the governing student organization made up of elected student representatives from across each campus and our online population.
We are here to advocate for YOU! My home campus is Alexandria where I also serve as the Vice President of the Student Government Association (SGA).
I joined NOVA in 2020, which was obviously an eventful time to become a Nighthawk. Even though I only have experience with NOVA remotely, I have had the pleasure to enjoy so many memorable moments with the always inclusive and understanding NOVA community. There are lots of fun things to get involved in here! Apart from SGAC and SGA, some of my other personal favorites have been Women in Science, Technology, Art, and Math (STEAM) and the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society.
There are tons of events for everyone to enjoy whether you are attending NOVA in-person or online! Get involved, take risks and make new friends -- you won’t regret it.
I know that there are concerns with being back in-person and extra attention to our individual and collective health. I want to personally encourage everyone who is able to get vaccinated. The more we look out for ourselves and each other, the more we can enjoy the benefits of being back in-person! I'm so excited to be able to safely see the entire Nighthawk community. It truly feels surreal after such a long, almost endless, time in quarantine.
With such a large NOVA community, I’m sure I won’t be able to see everyone face-to-face. But if you do see me around, please say hello and introduce yourself! I am always happy to meet fellow Nighthawks and provide any support or assistance when I can.
Have a great semester and enjoy every moment. NOVA is a great place to be and even better with you here!
~Trishvi Nguyen
