A Historic World Indoor Championships! 

This is the last newsletter of the indoor season, celebrating the NIKE Indoor Nationals (March 12-15) and the World Indoor Championships (March 20-22).

Deep thoughts from Steve Prefontaine

Steve Prefontaine competed from the Mile to the 10,000m on the track. It seemed that the longer the event, the better he did. Pre battled against the finest athletes of his time. 

The 10,000 meters run on April 27, 1974 at the Hayward Restoration Meet, was the AR at six miles (26:51.4) and 10,000 meters (27:43.60). Prefontaine ran at the Hayward Restoration Meet in 1973 as well. It was a meet to help raise money to restore historic Hayward Field. 

Twenty-five laps on the track, as close as possible to the fastest pace one can endure, is as tough mentally as it is physically. In Prefontaine's first 25 lapper, he broke the American record.
