Cross-country has some amazing heroes! Lynn Jennings is one of them. Lynn Jennings won the World Cross Country in 1990, 1991 and 1992!
In the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, Lynn Jennings ran 31:19.89, a new American record that lasted until May 2, 2002, when it was broken by Deena Kastor. Lynn Jennings won the Olympic bronze medal in the 10,000 meters in Barcelona Olympics (1992).
Here are a couple of other fun things about Lynn Jennings: Lynn won NINE USATF Cross Country titles, and she joined the late great Grete Waitz (Norway) and Edith Masai (Kenya) to win three World Cross Country titles. Only three women have won three World Cross-Country titles!
At the age of 38, Lynn Jennings ran a 2:38 marathon! NIKE did an ad with Lynn and Pat Porter on them both winning their 8th U.S. cross country title, we show it here!

Steve Prefontaine led the Oregon Ducks to the NCAA Cross Country Championships in 1973, and before his death, owned the American records for the 2000m, 3,000m, 5,000m, and 10,000m, as well as two miles, three miles, and six miles! “Pre,” as his fans call him, had an unquenchable desire to challenge himself.
