SCHOOL CLOSURES
1/1: Closed, Happy New Year!
1/21: School Closed, Martin Luther King Day
A MESSAGE FROM JAY SILVERSTEIN, PhD - Executive Director

To the NIS Parent and Family Community,

I hope you had a joyful Holiday Season and that this New Year brings peace and good health to us all. It is hard to believe that we are nearly halfway through the school year, and before we know it we will be preparing for the transition to another year at NIS or kindergarten. But not so fast, we still have ample time before we close in on that transition. If you have any concerns with your child's progress or other components within the NIS community, please make sure to voice your concerns to your child's teacher, therapist, program supervisor, or me. Our goal is to meet and exceed your expectations. We are not perfect, but we strive to be the perfect early childhood center for each and every child who attends NIS. As we enter the New Year and approach the mid-point of the school year, I encourage you to assess yours and your child's experience at NIS, and to please communicate any concerns you may have. This is how NIS makes sure it continues its mission, and how you make sure you continue yours! Thank you for your trust and faith in NIS, we will continue to earn it.
WINTER REMINDERS

The playground is open daily unless deemed unsafe. We ask that you please dress your child appropriately for the weather, anticipating he/she will go outside every day . During the colder months, please make sure there is a hat and gloves in your child's backpack. We recommend that you send your child in wearing sneakers daily as they are the safest shoe for running. However, if it is snowing, an additional pair of sneakers or boots is recommended so your child has a dry pair of shoes when coming inside.

It's Snowing!  Is School Delayed/Closed?

Please be advised that NIS will close or modify school hours when a determination has been made that the children and/or staff cannot be transported in a safe and timely manner due to weather conditions in our area. We make this decision with input from local school districts and the bus company.
