Save the date for The Great NEF Gala!
Join the Northwest ISD Education Foundation for a night of roaring fun to celebrate its 20th anniversary! The Great NEF Gala will take you back to the 1920's in Great Gatsby style, with lively music, decadent food, and silent and live auctions, to raise funds to benefit students and teachers in Northwest ISD. The event is Saturday, May 4, 2019, from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. at the DFW Marriott Hotel at Champions Circle. Dollars raised provide financial support to NISD teachers and students through innovative teaching grants and scholarships for graduating seniors. Sponsorships and individual tickets are available, as well as opportunities to support by donating an item to the auction or wine pull! For more information or to purchase tickets, visit our Gala site at https://one.bidpal.net/greatnefgala.
NEF Scholarship Applications open Feb. 1
Do you know a graduating senior in Northwest ISD? The Northwest ISD Education Foundation takes pride in helping students succeed beyond their time in the district by providing scholarship opportunities, and this year's application process is about to open.

The 2019 applications open on Friday, Feb. 1, and will be posted on the NEF website, located at http://bit.ly/NEFScholarships. The deadline to submit an application is Monday, April 1. This year, the foundation will award more than $50,000 in scholarships! If you would like information on how to sponsor a student scholarship, please contact Alyssa Edstrom at alyssa.edstrom@nisdtx.org or 817-215-0084.
Help promote literacy. Volunteer for Northwest Reads! Participants may choose from a variety of books to read to
pre-kindergarten through fifth-grade students at one of Northwest ISD's 18 elementary schools. The program provides community members with an opportunity to inspire district students to become lifelong readers.
The Northwest ISD Council of PTAs invites you to join them on board the Rally Day Bus as they head to Austin on Feb. 25, 2019, for Texas PTA Rally Day at the Texas State Capitol building.
We currently have a number of students identified as having needs ranging from study skills, to emotional needs, to just needing someone to talk to in a different setting or different way. These kids would benefit from having an extra concerned adult in their lives. With your help, we can have a transformative effect on lives and an even bigger effect on the communities we serve.

The commitment is flexible. We have mentors that come in for an hour a week, and we have others that can give more time, and still others that have less time to give. By working together, we will make a difference in the academic success of the kids in the community through a very valuable outreach. To become involved, call your child's counselor or contact
Phil Beckman at pbeckman@nisdtx.org or 817-215-0172.
