Thank you to the more than 400 community members who read to children across our district as part of the 11th annual Northwest Reads last month! Your time and dedication spent reading to kids helped to make the event both possible, as well as a huge success. We value your involvement!
Northwest Reads expanded this year to include secondary students. Pike Middle School piloted a poetry slam competition where students read their
poems during advisory and the advisory teacher selected one winning poem per class. The student author of the winning poem received a prize and advanced to a lunchtime poetry slam. The lunch monitors selected a winning poem for each grade level and the student authors and their advisory teachers won grand prizes.
