Ready and Healthy for Kindergarten: A Primary Care Innovation
to Promote a 360-degree View of Child Health
Children from low-income Latino backgrounds are at elevated risk for poor school readiness, which perpetuates existing health inequities. Primary care is an ideal setting to promote optimal school readiness given its frequent contact with at-risk children. This interdisciplinary team science project designed and implemented an innovative family wellness program in primary care and is yielding important insights on how primary care can promote whole person 360-degree care for at-risk children and their families.

Paying Participants in Research: Time to Move Forward…
Neal Dickert, MD, PhD, will discuss practical and ethical considerations related to paying research participants for participation. In particular, he will discuss available data that suggest many traditional concerns about payment are not grounded in evidence, address the potential for payment to function differently in different research contexts, and consider the potential role of payment in addressing rather than exacerbating concerns about distributive justice.
