Propelus I-Corps Online Program


This four-session Propelus program helps researchers explore the customer perspective to inform how a discovery or innovation can become the basis of a successful startup or venture. 


To apply to attend the Propelus program, researchers must form a team of at least two people involved with the scientific or technological discovery. The team must include:

  • an entrepreneurial lead (often a postdoctoral researcher, graduate student or undergraduate) and
  • a technical lead (usually a faculty member)

2024 Biomedical Data Science Innovation Lab (BDSIL)

NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS


BDSIL is a hybrid academic program consisting of online team-building activities and a virtual seminar series that lead-up to an all-expenses-paid, 5-day grant-writing workshop at Bahia Resort Hotel in San Diego, California!


  • Develop interdisciplinary projects to generate creative strategies on the use of data science approaches for creating new strategic partnerships between AI developers, biomedical researchers, and educators.
  • Learn about NIH and NSF funding through direct interaction with program officers.

NJ ACTS Workforce Development Co-Lead

Lauren Aleksunes Featured in Philadelphia Inquirer


Dr. Aleksunes is leading a team awarded a $5 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to create a new maternal research center at Rutgers that will study the safety of chemicals and ingredients in common products during pregnancy.


Called the Integrated Transporter Elucidation Center (InTEC), the effort will bring together researchers from Rutgers, University of Pennsylvania, and other institutions to research how chemicals and toxins pass through the placenta, and whether they can affect a fetus’ development. The Health & Life Science Exchange (The HELIX NJ) is a new innovation district providing industries and universities the critical ecosystem to research, learn, work, and collaborate.


Located in New Brunswick, NJ, The HELIX NJ provides a strategic location, a range of state-of-the-art environments, and a vibrant community of innovation. Funded by the NIH/NIGMS, the innovative Career MODE’ (Careers through Mentoring and training in Omics and Data for Early-stage investigators) training program is recruiting a diverse cohort of early-stage Investigators from across the nation. At least 50% of the cohort will have the participation fee waived by receiving a scholarship.
