Rutgers University Joins ARPANet-H as a Spoke
The Advanced Research Projects Administration - Health (ARPA-H) [https://arpa-h.gov/], an independent entity within the National Institutes of Health (NIH), supports high-impact research carried out by a wide variety of groups across the country from academia and private industry to the government.
The goal of ARPA-H is "to propel towards one goal: to directly improve the health of all Americans faster than was ever imagined to be achievable." Toward that end, it has established a hub and spoke model for tackling specific challenges.
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, has been named one of the spokes. ARPANET-H is a nationwide health innovation network that connects people, innovators, and institutions. This network is anchored by three regional hubs, supported by a consortium with a nationwide network of spokes to bring together the nation’s voices, resources, and needs. As a spoke, Rutgers can participate in projects as a clinical study site, preclinical testing, or as a reviewer of project details. NJ ACTS is also made aware of opportunities that are developing at APRA-H.
We are constantly expanding our statement of capabilities and if you have relevant skills, let Judith Argon (ja946@rbhs.rutgers.edu) know. Keep looking in the newsletter and in email for opportunities as we learn of them.

ARPA-H Women Health Initiative
ARPA-H is launching a Sprint for Women’s Health that aims to address critical unmet challenges in women’s health across all demographics, geographies, and socioeconomic statuses, championing transformative innovations and tackling health conditions that uniquely or disproportionately affect women from every walk of life.
The ARPA-H Sprint for Women’s Health’ has issued a request for solutions (RFS) funding opportunity (Solicitation # ARPA-H-ICHUB-24-101); it will use two funding tracks to foster transformative research and development efforts: one for early-stage research, or “Spark” solutions, and the other for later-stage development, or “Launchpad” solutions. There are two subprograms: Spark awards (TRL 1-4) will focus on transformative early-stage research efforts, and Launchpad (TRL 5-7) aims to accelerate later stage transformative health solutions reaching the public.
Topics of interest are:
- Topic 01: Women’s Health at Home
- Topic 02: Prioritizing Ovarian Health Through Mid-Life to Prevent Disease
