Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Research Design Workshop Training Series

Use & Application of NHANES Data for Biomonitoring Studies

Katherine (Kate) Lubina, MS

PhD candidate concentrating in Epidemiology

This workshop will give an overview of how to use NHANES data, with an emphasis on environmental data, post-stratification sample weights, and complex sample design.

Since 1960 the CDC National Center for Health Statistics has conducted the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) , designed to assess the health and nutritional status of adults and children in the United States. The survey is unique in that it combines interviews and physical examinations. The NHANES program includes a series of cross-sectional nationally representative health examination surveys.

Earlier workshops from the BERD Workshop Series are available on CANVAS.  These are educational opportunities for clinical and translational researchers to develop basic skills and understanding in study design and data analysis.

NJ ACTS Biostatistics and Epidemiology Workshop Series available in CANVAS include:

  1. Setting the Stage: An Introduction to Biostatistics and Epidemiology for Researchers
  2. Statistical Design Considerations for Randomized and Exploratory Clinical Trials
  3. Best Practices in Data Management for Researchers
  4. Introduction to R for Clinical and Translational Research
