The Port will be home to multiple factories that will build the necessary components for offshore wind turbines. It is also strategically situated for component staging, final assembly, and transport (collectively known as marshalling). At full build-out, the Port will support up to 1,500 permanent, high-quality manufacturing, assembly, and operations jobs. Construction will start in 2021 and will create hundreds of jobs. Overall, the Port is expected to support up to $500 million of new economic activity within the State and the region each year.
The New Jersey Wind Port will provide a major economic boost to the State of New Jersey, Salem County, and the region:
  1. At full build-out, the New Jersey Wind Port will support up to 1,500 manufacturing, assembly, and operations jobs.
  2. The State currently estimates the Port will cost between $300-400 million at full build with Phase 2 designs being finalized.
  3. Port construction, which is targeted to start in 2021, will create hundreds of additional union jobs.
  4. Overall, the New Jersey Wind Port is expected to support up to $500 million of new economic activity within the State and the region each year.
