New Jersey’s High. have returned with their EP Come Back Down, available now on vinyl and digitally via longtime New York indie label Kanine Records. Showcasing the four-piece’s sonic evolvement, the four songs on the band’s sophomore EP reach new heights with riffs that dig deep and more emotion than ever before. To celebrate the long-awaited EP, they have shared new music videos directed by Luke Carr (Angel Olsen, Porches) for “Flowers” and “Dead,” the latter of which premiered yesterday on Under the Radar.
"It feels good, and it’s a relief," says bandleader Christian Castan, who tells Stereogum about releasing Come Back Down in the band's coveted Band to Watch profile. "We’re proud of it, and we’re happy to have our first-ever vinyl. This is awesome, it’s something that we worked hard for, to get a vinyl record. It’s sweet. This is like the beginning of High. It took a while, but we’re here now and ready to go for the moon."

Come Back Down was announced last year, along with their latest singles “In A Hole” and “Catcher.” Paired with these singles are music videos with both urban and suburban visuals that oppose, yet complement each other well. Today’s sophomore EP marks the beginning of High.’s creative partnership with longstanding NYC indie label Kanine Records & a key period in the band’s development. With a greater expression of sonic range, the EP offers more noise, more hooks, more heaviness, and more emotion. The sad is sadder, and the love is more in love. More songs about loss and being lost. This moment is the culmination of their growth after their well-received and heavily toured debut EP, Bomber, split released via tastemaker tape labels Julia’s War and Suburban Creep. Bomber will be featured on the B-Side of Come Back Down, marking the first time the first EP will be available on vinyl.
High. had a busy year of live performances in 2024, from touring around the U.S. with contemporaries like all under heaven, She’s Green, Shut Ups, Interlay and Birthday Girl to rocking local opening slots with DIIV, Soul Blind, Narrow Head and Been Stellar. It all continues this February and March, with dates in Florida and along the West Coast with labelmates Palomino Blond and an album release show at Baby’s All Right next week with Asi Kemera.
