Crisis Management Simulation Course Afternoon Session

Learn crisis management skills with three hands-on simulations of crisis scenarios.

Workshop Registration Fees


Each session is limited to 24 participants.

There is a limit of 10 RRNA registrations per session.


  • NJANA Member: $125 per session, or both for $200
  • Non-Member: $150 per session, or both for $250
  • RRNA: $50 per session, or both for $100

8:00 - 10:00 a.m. Vascular point of Care Ultrasound (2 Class A CE*)

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the utility of POCUS for peripheral vascular cannulation
  2. Utilize POCUS to recognize the relevant anatomic structures to safely perform vascular cannulation.
  3. Identify barriers that interfere with the implementation of POCUS into practice for peripheral vascular cannulation.
  4. Demonstrate the skill of cannulating a phantom model 

10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Gastric Point of Care Ultrasound with review of current recommendations in special patient populations (2 Class A CE*)

  1. Discuss the pillars of gastric ultrasonography using the I-AIM framework.
  2. Discuss the current evidence-based recommendations regarding gastric ultrasonography for special populations.
  3. Perform gastric ultrasound and identify anatomical landmarks.
  4. Identify gastric contents through ultrasonography and discuss anesthetic implications.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Recognize the utility of the Stanford Manual for Crisis Management.
  2. Participate in a local anesthetic toxicity perioperative simulation.
  3. Identify pharmacological agents and LAST patient management protocol.
  4. Participate in an intraoperative cardiac arrest simulation.
  5. Demonstrate the proper clinical sequence for managing intraoperative cardiac arrest.
  6. Participate in an intraoperative malignant hyperthermia simulation.
  7. Demonstrate the MH crisis management resources and protocol. 

*Participants can earn up to 7 Class A CE credits by completing both workshop sessions. CE Credits are pending AANA approval.
