N.J. Inland Flood Protection Policy

New Jersey recently enacted an Inland Flood Protection Rule to ensure that areas at most significant risk are better defined and that new and reconstructed assets in these areas are designed and constructed using the best available climate-informed precipitation data.

The NJCRC's Sept. 26 Technical Assistance Coffee Chat webinar included presentations on the rule by Rutgers University Assistant Extension Specialist in Climate Services James Shope and New Jersey State Floodplain Administrator Vincent Mazzei.

New CHARRM Workgroup Focused on Coastal Habitat Restoration

The NJCRC has launched a Coastal Habitat and Aquatic Resource Research and Monitoring (CHARRM) workgroup comprised of resource/regulatory agencies, restoration practitioners, and research scientists working to facilitate communication and collaboration for coastal habitat restoration in the region.

Watch: Building Resilience Partnerships with the Department of Defense

Our June Coffee Chat webinar covered opportunities for building partnerships with the the DoD's Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration (REPI) program and coastal restoration efforts underway in the Naval Weapons Station Earle area, with presentations by Anthony Danesi of HQ Naval Facilities Engineering Command and Merdeith Comi of the Monmouth University Urban Coast Institute.
