New Jersey Walkers are Halfway to Goal!
This year, our NJ Walks for TS teams have a goal of $50,000 and they are halfway there with our Youth Advocates leading the way! Sofia Trabilcy, Sarah Freeman, Peter Frantz Pendell, and Hannah Horner are just a few of the teens fundraising and spreading awareness. They will be continuing their campaigns throughout TS Awareness Month so you can support them through the link below or by buying a Walk tshirt.

Get Ready for TS Awareness Month
TS Awareness Month is a great time to let your community and your very own circle of family and friends know what TS is, and what it isn't. How can you do that? Here are a few ways:

  1. Share NJCTS social media posts throughout the month. We will be posting TS facts and inspirational stories that you can post to your own feed.
  2. Wear teal and the NJCTS logo proudly! If you have a shirt wear it, if not, there are plenty of options in our store. All proceeds benefit our programs.
  3. In New Jersey, TS Awareness Day is June 4. You can have it declared in your town too with a proclamation.
A Sneak Peek at a New Video
Last month, three NJCTS families met with the creative team from Grey Sky Film to tell their stories. It was an emotional day about three very different families that had one very important thing in common....they found their community.

We can't wait to share these stories with you this summer! Stay tuned!
May Online Programs & Support Groups
NJCTS is planning exciting programming throughout the month for teens, adults and families.
May 10 at 8 p.m.
The monthly NJCTS support group is an avenue for parents who are new to a tic disorder diagnosis to seek support and guidance from parents who have more experience, as well as an opportunity for parents with more familiarity in coping with a diagnosis to also learn and seek guidance.
May 15 at 7 p.m.
Calling all adults with TS, age 18-35. Join us as we come together to build our community and connect with others navigating both the TS journey and adulthood. Here you can comfortably discuss your experiences, share advice, and build relationships with those who understand your unique challenges.
May 17 at 7 p.m.
Presented by Dr. Azlen Theobald from Neurabilities
Clinicians and researchers are now finding differences in the way autism presents across genders, and higher prevalence in biological males may not necessarily mean that more boys have autism. Often, autism in girls just looks different from the stereotype of autistic behavior, so some doctors might not diagnose it. Or, what has been found among females, is many are not diagnosed until well into adulthood.
May 31 at 7:30 p.m.
Presented by Dr. Laura Marshak
Drawing from both her professional and personal perspective, Dr. Marshak will help the audience understand that the strength of a couples’ relationship does not have to be defined by the demands of raising a neurodivergent child.

ON THE TEEN BLOG: Playing Sports with Tourette
"I’m a junior in high school now and play football and baseball, and I have been playing sports my entire life. They have been a huge part of my life, and I would be lying if I said my tics haven’t presented challenges along with that."
