A Note from the Artistic Director Nancy Turano
NJDTE is entering its 49
th
season providing excellence in pre-professional dance education. We are thrilled to welcome Barbara Carocci as NJDTE Executive Director and Francesca Harper as Artistic Director of MIP®, two brilliant individuals who bring tremendous international experience and leadership to our organization. NJDTE is expanding its presence as a hub for dance in Summit, NJ, NYC metro area, nationally and internationally and our mission has taken on new dimensions in the 2017- 2018 season. We continue to bring world-class artists to Summit with AiR®, a contemporary artist-in-residence program, and with our 4th season of INKUBATE®, a series of site-specific performances in collaboration with Reeves Reed Arboretum in Summit. NJDTE continues to increase our reach with new weekday classes and community outreach, while offering a unique voice to the region’s rich cultural landscape. We are deeply grateful to all our contributors, board of directors, staff, artists, dancers and all the phenomenal individuals who support our organization. I look forward to seeing you at one of our events soon.
Warm regards,

New Programs 2018
This winter, we introduced three new classes to our Summit Studios that are a wonderful addition to our programming.
- Pre-K Creative Dance: Ages 3-4 on Wednesdays 9:45-11am | Are you interested in Wednesday Adult Ballet Class and have a 3-4 year old child that may like to take our new Creative Dance Class with Sydney Thornell at the same time?
- Boys Hip Hop: Ages 10-13 on Fridays 3:30-4:30pm | Taught by David Suarez
- Performing Health Masterclass with Dr. Adrienne Stevens on February 15, 2018 | Dr. Stevens taught a special masterclass to our Level 3 NJDTE dancers focusing on the importance of warming up, Theraband exercises for injury prevention and discussions of the body, self-image, self-love and kindness to others. Dr. Stevens also writes a monthly blog in collaboration with NJDTE on her website, www.performinghealth.com.
