an online application to help older adults and individuals with disabilities save money on Medicare premiums, prescription costs and other living expenses.
NJFA was glad to see that the Older Americans Act has been reauthorized through 2024. As you know, this provides critical funding to the organizations serving the needs of our older adults.
Additionally, the Administration for Community Living (ACL) was able to provide $250 million in emergency funding to local providers to address the health and safety of older adults during the COVID-19 crisis.
During this difficult time, as we navigate social distancing to keep our communities safe, we know that those on the front lines--our friends and colleagues at the County Offices on Aging, Senior Centers, Meals on Wheels, health care settings and more--are in need of support. We hope that, as they deal with these daily struggles, the announcement of these two federal funding initiatives brings them some relief. We hope they also know that NJFA is here for them. We stand with you, as always, in your service to the community.
