**Affinity Group Spotlight**
Clinical Services Professionals
The Clinical Services Professionals Affinity Group is one of 15 affinity groups developed by the Network. These groups meet regularly via zoom enabling professionals and lay leaders the opportunity to network with colleagues from around the world, to improve the work they do in their own communities. Participants reflect on and share the work they are doing, gather information about best practices, return to their agencies with new ideas, and create learning opportunities for the NJHSA Network at large.
The Clinical Services Professionals Affinity Group is unique in that it evolved organically last April in Atlanta at NJHSA’s 2019 Annual Conference. It all began with four individuals at an optional group lunch. Since then, the group has held 4 zoom calls. Thus far, more than 65 mental health professionals have participated and the Network welcomes more! Some of the topics discussed so far have included telemental health, psychiatry, compensation practices, challenging clinical situations, and substance use. The group call on November 14th will surround ways to improve client outcomes and engagement with measurement-based care.

Building Board Diversity: An Opportunity and Unique Challenge for Jewish Agencies
Tuesday, November 19th | 3pm ET
Exceptional nonprofit boards recognize that diversity is essential to an organization’s success. They see the correlation between mission, strategy, and board composition and understand that establishing an inclusive organization starts with establishing a diverse and inclusive board. Many board members already understand that a homogeneous board can result in near-sightedness and group-think. By contrast, a heterogeneous board — one composed of individuals with a variety of skills, perspectives, backgrounds, and resources — promotes creativity and innovation and yields differing voices that can play an important role in accomplishing the organization’s mission and increasing understanding of constituents and community needs. Diverse boards also are more likely to attract public and private sector grant makers which are increasingly focused on diversity. Yet, according to Board Source’s bi-annual study of non-profits,” Leading with Intent” many — if not most — nonprofit boards are not making meaningful headway towards achieving diversity.

Pause with Pittsburgh - October 27th
Nearly one year ago... The Pittsburgh Jewish community suffered the most brutal anti-Semitic attack in the history of the United States when a gunman opened fire in the Tree of Life building in Pittsburgh, taking the lives of 11 innocent people from three congregations: Dor Hadash, New Light and Tree of Life * Or L'Simcha, all of whom were joined in prayer. One year later, The Pittsburgh Community is mobilizing an international effort to honor the memory of those who lost their lives that day. In solidarity, we ask that you help to promote this effort within your community and join The Network and our colleagues at JFCS Pittsburgh as we

How New Overtime Pay Rule May Affect Your Nonprofit
Tuesday, November 5th | 3pm ET |
REGISTER
The U.S. Department of Labor just released its
Overtime Final Rule
, putting new regulations in place regarding who, effective January 1, 2020, must be paid overtime and who will be exempt. The rule adjusts the salary level test, part of a three-part test for determining when white-collar workers are exempt or must be paid overtime for working more than 40 hours in a week. It is estimated that the new rules will affect seven percent of the nonprofit workforce. Join the National Council for Nonprofits for a
free webinar
featuring officials from the U.S. Department of Labor and employment law experts from the perspectives of both workers and employers for an exploration of what the Overtime Final Rule means to nonprofit operations and missions - and what nonprofits should be doing now to prepare.
