2020 NJHSA Board Nominations
The NJHSA Nominating Committee is excited to announce the launch of the nominating process to identify potential candidates for the 2020 Board of Directors. We are seeking candidates specifically with background in the field of
non-profit financial management
and/or
non-profit auditing
, as well as those who have
experience as philanthropic supporters of the Jewish human service sector
. The Network's Board of Directors consists of thought leaders, advocates and others who are devoted to working together to advance the Jewish human service sector. Terms will begin in May 2020 and elected candidates will be asked to serve three-year terms.

As the hub of Montreal’s 50+ community, the Centre touches the lives of 10,000 people on an annual basis.

JVS Human Services Names Paul Blatt as New CEO
Paul Blatt has been named to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer, of
JVS Human Services
, effective March 1, 2020. The appointment follows the earlier announcement of current CEO Leah Rosenbaum’s retirement. Blatt has been with the agency since 2008, serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the last five years. As Chief Operating Officer, Blatt has been responsible for ensuring the agency’s programmatic fiscal and strategic goals were met and key needs in the metro Detroit community were being addressed. In his executive leadership role at JVS, Blatt has been responsible for the success of the 350 staff who deliver and implement the agency’s services. He also works with the Board of Trustees and staff serving as an ambassador for JVS for prospective board and committee members, funding sources and community leaders.

Dominique McCaughey Named New Ometz CEO
Dominique McCaughey has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of
Agence Ometz
in Montreal, effective April 1, 2020. Dominique has a long history as a professional and lay leader in the Jewish community. She has been with Ometz in the position of Chief Strategy and Development Officer since July, 2015, but her service and commitment to our community dates back to her work as a community organizer with Project Genesis before joining Jewish Family Services in 1996. During the past four years with the agency as part of the executive team, Dominique has played a catalyzing role as a trusted, engaging and nimble change leader. She has led in building brand recognition and reputation, resulting in recognition of Ometz as one of Canada’s top charities. She increased fundraising capacity and culture, securing transformational gifts to support programs for school age children, adults living with mental health challenges, and the gifts that led to the much needed and anticipated opening of l’Annexe, the Ometz Centre for Young Adults in the New Year. The Network is excited to welcome Dominique McCaughey!

Join Us in Opposing a Wealth Test on Immigrants
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, or USCIS,
announced
its new proposed fee schedule on Nov. 8, 2019, with an official publication date of Nov. 14, 2019. The proposed changes include new and/or increased fees for adjustment of status, asylum, DACA renewals and naturalization. The proposed rule also seeks to eliminate critical fee waivers that allow vulnerable immigrants to maintain their status and progress in their immigration journey. Click

2020 Signature Employment Grant Cycle
The Kessler Foundation's Signature Employment Grants support innovative solutions with potential for public or private replication. Success is ideas that spark new models to increase employment for people with disabilities. For the 2020 grant request for proposals, the Foundation has a special interest in projects that address the intersection of race, class, gender, disability and poverty within the framework of helping individuals with disabilities obtain employment or re-enter the job market following injury. Partnerships across sectors, such as public/private collaborations with economic development organizations, banks and municipalities are particularly of interest. However, all submitted innovative grant concepts on various topics are eligible for funding. For more information, please visit
