School Transportation Managers and Fleet Managers:
2022 Clean School Bus Rebates
School districts can apply for federal funding to replace diesel school buses with low-emissions alternatives – like propane autogas – over the next five years. Take steps now to ensure local districts in your area know about the Environmental Protection Agency’s $5 billion Clean School Bus Program funding and that propane buses are eligible. The program will help pay to swap existing buses with cleaner models that result in better air quality on the bus, in bus loading areas, and throughout the communities that they serve. The maximum rebate amount per bus varies by fuel type, bus size, and whether the applying school district meets one or more priorities. They include rural school districts and those having 20 percent or more students living in poverty. Propane autogas models serving prioritized districts qualify for up to $25,000 per vehicle. Those serving districts that are not prioritized are eligible for up to $15,000. Each school district may request funds to replace up to 25 buses. Fleets must replace old buses by the end of the project period, but there can be overlap between receiving new buses and replacing old ones. Deadline for submitting applications for the first year of funding is Aug. 19th.

Trade and Technical Schools:
Apply now for PERC’s Technical School Grant Program
Applications are open for the 2022 Technical School Grant Program! Starting today, trade and technical schools across the country can apply to receive $10,000 from PERC to add pre-developed propane curriculum and related equipment to their classroom. This means more students will learn about propane systems - students who could become qualified technicians at your company in the future! Reach out to the schools in your area to see if they would like to teach the propane specific HVAC and Plumber Technical Training curriculum. Application period ends November 30th.

Tell Us About Your Customers:
We are looking for member companies who would be willing to send letters to the editor of local press outlets about the State's Energy Master Plan and its consequences. Our communications agency, Princeton Strategic Communications (PSC), will draft the letters consistent with our messaging on costs and choice restrictions. There's no need for members to research, draft or word-smith these short letters. PSC's David Klucsik will work with you to tailor your letter to your business, your market and your local press outlet. If you would like to draft your own correspondence, David will be happy to provide the appropriate press contact. If you would be willing to work with David in sending these letters, it should take only a few minutes of your time.
|
|
Case Studies:
We are looking for "case studies" to demonstrate the prospective direct impacts of the state's Energy Master Plan on different categories of customers, including residential, commercial, industrial and institutional (e.g. school, church, municipal building, community center, library, etc.). Please tell us if you know of a customer or customers in one or more of these categories who could be profiled in a feature story about the prospective impacts of the State's Energy Master Plan. The "case study" could be used to support NJPGA's messaging in press outlets, as well as the NJPGA website and other communications channels. We will be happy to work with you and any customer you might identify to create the profile and illustrate the effects of the Master Plan and are available to help educate customers about such impacts if they're not already aware.

NPGA LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
INFLATION REDUCTION ACT
After months of negotiating various versions of a climate-oriented reconciliation bill, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), on July 27, 2022, announced an agreement for the Inflation Reduction Act. This bill provides $369 billion for “energy security and climate change,” among other provisions. Due to the partisan makeup of the Senate, Democrats will all have to vote for the bill, with Vice President Harris casting a tie-breaking vote. The House of Representatives has similar margins in which nearly all democrats must vote for the bill.
