This week, the Governor's detailed budget book for FY 2023 was made available online. This book serves as a policy document, operations guide, and a financial plan for the Governor's proposed $48.9 billion budget. The book includes summaries of appropriations, expenditures and fund balances, and detailed department-by-department appropriations data and budget language recommendations. As we previously reported, the Governor delivered his Budget Address on Tuesday, March 8th. During the Address he highlighted key funding priorities for the Administration in the upcoming Fiscal Year 2023 budget, which begins on July 1st, 2022.
On Monday and Wednesday, the Assembly Budget Committee kicked off the first and second of its four hearings that they will be holding over the next few weeks. The Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee will begin their meetings next week on Tuesday, March 29th. Both Chambers are holding their hearings remotely as a way to increase accessibility and engagement with the public.
