Welcome to our inaugural newsletter! 

In recent months, we have been working to enhance communication and to increase social media presence. As part of this effort, this quarterly newsletter will enable us to regularly connect with partners about implementation of the New Jersey Tiered System of Supports for Early Reading (NJTSS-ER). 

This newsletter will provide updates about past and upcoming events and training opportunities and NJTSS-ER support resources. With New Jersey school districts implementing components of NJTSS-ER that have resulted in improvements in student reading performance, this newsletter will also be utilized to highlight implementation efforts and outcomes.  

We look forward to opportunities to regularly highlight through this newsletter the great work that is taking place in our state.

NJTSS-ER Support Team in Action

Our support team has been busy presenting this winter and spring and partnering with districts from around the state to highlight various stages of NJTSS-ER Implementation.

Our NJTSS-ER Team and district administrators from Green Brook Township Public Schools presented at the NJASA/NJPSA Women's Leadership Conference to highlight outcomes from NJTSS-ER Implementation.

At our BRIDGE Showcase, six out of the eighteen districts in our BRIDGE Cohort shared their progress in their first year of NJTSS-ER Implementation.

At the annual MTSS Summit hosted by NJPSA/FEA, our support team presented on strengthening tier 1 instructions through class-wide interventions. We were also joined by our partner district, Camden, to share how to align diagnostic assessment, intervention, and progress monitoring practices to support stronger instructional decision making for early reading.

Latest Updates

Framework 2.0 is Here!

NJTSS-ER Framework 2.0 has been released and is available on our updated website. If you have worked with the previous editions of our framework, we encourage you to consider this updated comprehensive document where components of the framework are organized sequentially and include a rationale, description of effective implementation, individuals responsible, and key actions required for successful implementation. Implementation supports, such as videos, tools, and implementation tips, are included. The updated framework also incorporates guides to support local data-driven instructional coaches in implementing and sustaining the framework. 

Updated Website

Our updated website includes the new framework, recent spotlights and updates, and training opportunities. Additional changes will be rolled out this summer.  

District Spotlight

In the video below, Westfield Schools discusses their creation of a universal screening implementation plan to facilitate staff members’ administration, scoring, analysis, and use of universal screening data.
