IN THIS ISSUE

FROM THE PASTOR...
Church
When Bishop Tremble, the episcopal leader of the Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church, announced that churches should not meet for four weeks, I think all pastors immediately grabbed a calendar to look ahead.   It was with shock and disappointment that I think all of these pastors realized that Easter was included in this four-week period of suspended worship services for social distancing.   It is true, for the first time in most of our lives we will not be able to gather together to loudly sing "Up From the Grave He Arose" in a sanctuary full of beautiful lilies.    We will miss Easter this year.  Rather we will miss the day that church tradition has assigned to Easter this year.  To read more click here

VIRTUAL WORSHIP SERVICE

As many of you know, we are having virtual worship services on Sundays on our website due to our church not being able to meet during the coronavirus pandemic.  There have been many positive comments regarding the first service last Sunday!!!  If you have not yet joined in, you can still view the first service on our website www.njumc.com.    It is on the "Home" page and on the "What's Happening Now" page.  Just click on Virtual Worship.  Pastor Sean will continue the services each Sunday until at least April 19th.  Those who receive a paper church newsletter are also receiving the service through the mail.  If you would like to receive a paper version of the service each week, please contact Amy at amy.mosher@njumc.com.

From the Stewardship Team:

Lent is a season in the church year during which we particularly focus on the sacrifice Jesus made for us to pay the debt we owed for our sin.  While we cannot repay Jesus for what he has done for us, his love does require a response. Paul writes "For Christ's love compels us ..." (2 Cor. 5:14).  In these uneasy times, we may tend to focus inwardly because we feel unsure of the future.  But we need to carry out the tasks which Christ left for us to do, as Matthew 25:31-46 states, "to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, care for the sick, and visit the prisoner."  Our church is not our building, it is us (the people), but we need to continue to support our ministries and building even in these tough times. We are saved by grace through faith for works.  Let us pray for the desire to be good stewards of our gifts in which God has given us that we might have a part in the furthering of God's kingdom!

During this time when our church building is closed, there are the following ways to be faithful with the giving of your tithes & offerings:

1. Mail your offering to NJUMC, 210 W. Central Ave., North Judson, IN 46366

2. Give Online by going to our website www.njumc.com.   On the "Home" page scroll to the bottom for instructions.  Or go to the "Ways to Give" page.

3.  Text NJUMC to 73256.

FROM THE FOOD PANTRY ... Matthew 25: 37 & 40; (37) ..."Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you...?" (40)..."I tell you the truth, whatever you did, for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."

OUTREACH TEAM

Our Outreach Team (Food Pantry, Kid's Closet, Free Meal, Furniture Ministry) has been working overtime during this crisis to try to meet the needs of the children out of school and adults out of work.  The Food Pantry is functioning as scheduled (1st & 3rd Thursdays 1-4 pm) with food being delivered safely to the cars instead of people entering the building. The Free Meal will still take place on the last Saturday (March 28th 11:00 a.m-1:00 p.m.) but as a drive-thru only.  Please keep all of our Outreach Team Leaders and volunteers in your prayers!
