FROM THE PASTOR...
Grace: The Unmerited Favor of God
Each Sunday during August I spoke on the amazing free gift of God's Grace. For this article, I wanted to review what I hope we have all learned about that gift of Grace. We know that God's unmerited, free, and spontaneous love for all of humankind was revealed and made effective in the person of Jesus Christ. It is through our relationship with God in Christ that we receive Grace.
Let's review the four aspects of Grace that I preached on:

September Mission of the Month - NJUMC Camp Scholarships In the month of September, 100% of your donations will be used to help children in our church attend church camp. UNITED METHODIST WOMEN NEWS
Our meeting this month will be on Tuesday, September 11th at 1:30 p.m. in the Church Lounge. All women are invited! Elaine Ezra will be the leader. Sanctuary clean-up for September is Etha Kallin.

Little Lights Preschool
Preschool has gotten off to a good start. Our preschoolers are getting used to our class routine and spending time away from their parents. We started the year off with activities on colors. During September the classes will work on the colors blue, green, yellow, and orange. The students will enjoy looking for objects in the room that are the color of the week.
Our MWF preschoolers will continue to hear stories about Daniel. They will learn that God watches over them. Our T/TH class will continue to hear Bible stories about God making the world. They will learn that God made the world and everything in it.

ENDOWMENT FUND REPORT
Our church received a grant of $1,325.00 in 2018 from our North Judson United Methodist Church Maintenance Fund endowment. This money was directed toward completing our handicap accessible project. The Facilities and Ground Ministry Team determines how this grant is to be used each year.
The Maintenance Fund Endowment was established in the Northern Indiana Community Foundation with an initial investment of $10,000.00 given by two church families wishing to see some of their assets support their church far beyond their own lifetimes. The Fund now has received 114 gifts, has a balance of $26,018.80 and the church has received grants from the Fund of $18,179.67 since its inception in 1998.
Gifts in any amount, small or large, may be added to the Fund at any time. Questions regarding this fund may be directed to Dave Altman, Cheryl Orkis, Jim Long, Marilyn Wickert (local board members) or to Sarah Origer at the Foundation office (574-772-3665).

Please join us for our all-you-can-eat chicken dinner including potatoes, coleslaw, bread, drink and dessert. Tickets are $9 for adults, $4.50 for 12 yrs. & under and preschool free. Proceeds are to support our missionaries in Africa, Lowell & Claudia Wertz.

OUTREACH BUILDING ANNOUNCEMENT
The church council decided there is a need for a building to house our outreach ministries. This building will house the Kid's Closet and Food Pantry ministries now, and potential other ministries in the future. It will be located on our lot across from the post office.
The whole church needs to vote on the project. We will have two informational all church meetings. These meetings are for questions and discussion. The meetings will be September 6th at 6:30 pm and September 9th at 5:30 pm. At the second meeting we will vote on the project and a yes vote of two thirds or more of those present will be required for us to proceed. All regular attenders are welcome to attend these meetings and to vote.

A BIG THANK YOU to all who helped with the Kid's Closet Fish Fry!!! Whether you worked at the meal, sold tickets, baked for the Bake Sale, donated items, or came and ate fish, you are all so appreciated. All profits will be used to continue helping children in our county!!!
