2017 Annual Summer Social Was a Smash!
Ahoy, Matey! Did you set sail with us to Treasure Island on July 19th? We hope so because all had a fabulous time! With over 220 attendees from four design associations across two incredible showrooms our island adventure had it all: treasure hunts, steel drums, exotic cocktails "Hafele Hurricane" and "Toto Tornado", delicious tropical inspired eats, and an incredible amount of pirate booty given away. Who wouldn't have fun!? If you joined us thank you for helping to make the evening a success and such fun! If you didn't, make sure to join us next year for our next adventure! I am already thinking about where we should travel to next year!
Congratulations to all our Treasure Hunt winners! We cannot thank our trade partners enough for both their continued commitment to bettering the industry and for their incredible generosity in providing nearly $25,000.00 in (product) pirate booty to give away! Please go to our Facebook page and thank them and like their pages. Please, let's show them the same support they always show us.
Thank you to the teams at Hafele and Toto, led by John Risch and Cheryl Tursi respectively, for their incredible generosity, time, input, and never-ending hospitality. When the multi-association committee approached John and Cheryl with the idea of co-hosting "The Social" they jumped on board with no hesitation. They, along with the committee members, worked tirelessly to make this event happen! Hence, when you next see Kent Brasloff (NKBA), Dawn DeLuca (NKBA), Barbara Haberman (IDS), John Risch (Hafele), Julie Schuster (IDS), Judy Sheridan (DLFNY), John Tudisco (IFDA), and Cheryl Tursi (TOTO), make sure to shout out, "Ahoy, Matey and Thank You!".

Fourth of July in New York is always a blast. If you caught the fireworks celebration you'll note that the creators outdid themselves in a spectacular four-boat firework display that brought the wow to the party. But the biggest blast of all this month was our annual Summer Social held on July 19th. Hosted and sponsored by Hafele America and Toto, these two showrooms provided two floors of food, music and fun for the eager participants. Pirate hats and eye patches made fun props for this treasure island night. Downstairs Toto had a steel drum player drumming out Caribbean tunes for dancing guests, while upstairs Hafele had a three- piece ensemble playing cool jazz. A treasure hunt helped the guests navigate through the two showrooms to learn more about the brands and their products. It was truly a memorable night with friends and colleagues we thank our design partners, IDS, IFDA and DFLNY for collaborating with us to make this night a success. Ahoy!
In August we have an event break, but in In September we'll have another exciting program where we will be discussing how to bring feng shui into your kitchen designs. Have you ever wanted to give your client that extra special something that they wouldn't get anywhere else? Be sure to reserve the Sept 18th date at the Jenn-Air showroom to attend this event and find out. Julie Schuster, of JLS Design Studio, also local president of the Interior Design Society will be holding court and giving you some fabulous tips. We look forward to seeing you there.

We hope you are enjoying your summer break and welcome you back in the fall to join us for our September program.

Due to a change in plans for the upcoming NKBA Manhattan 2018 chair positions, there will be no need for an election. The incoming council looks forward to bringing you more great professional development programs,
networking opportunities, and fun social events. If you would like to get involved and join a committee, please reach out to Kent Brasloff.
