May Special Event: Membership Breakfast at the Kips Bay Decorator Show House
One of the nation’s leading design events, the Kips Bay Decorator Show House, is now in its 47 th year. Each year, a home in New York City is chosen to be redesigned and decorated for tens of thousands of people to tour. The proceeds of the tour go to the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, which provides important after school enrichment programs for NYC children. Last month, NKBA Manhattan Chapter members were graciously hosted for breakfast by Monogram Appliances. This year, the home was a stunning double-width Georgian townhouse with 12,425 square feet of space, and Monogram was there.  Monogram partnered with AJ Madison to sponsor the kitchen, and worked with Peacock Cabinetry ’s Christopher Peacock on its design. The result is an inviting, functional kitchen that is any cook’s dream. Peacock’s inspiration for the kitchen was to create “A simple, clean and open kitchen, that is easy to use with practical materials.” He was certainly on the mark with this design. His design is upscale and gives serious attention to details. Peacock says he sees this as, “… a great place to kill a bottle of wine,” and we couldn’t agree more. It’s comfortable and begs for you to sit at the island for conversation over a bottle of Cabernet. A big thank you to Monogram for the beautiful morning event. If you haven't already seen the event photo album on the NKBA Manhattan Facebook page, click here to check it out!
Smaller, Yet Just as Mighty
As part of our commitment to beautiful kitchens of all sizes, Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Cove now offers the PRO 36, 36” model in its PRO series. Offering the iconic look of the PRO 48, with state-of-the-art air filtration, LED interior lighting and 36- inch footprint. The slightly smaller PRO 36 is an enticing choice to those with a small- footprint kitchen. Or dual-install this model side-by-side in a larger kitchen to create and impressive design statement and greater refrigeration space. One less foot = a world of possibilities.
All-New Wine Storage Options from Häfele
Whether your choice is a vintage Syrah or a young Riesling, Häfele recently added all-new, easy-to-install wine storage options to keep everything fashionably organized. The Wine Post stores and displays wine bottles so the label can be prominently displayed from the front. With the Wine Peg you can view wine bottles with a compact, neck out design that fits more bottles in a small space. Parallel Rods store and display wine bottles so the label can be viewed from the front while the rods span between two vertical substrates. Be sure and stop by Häfele’s Manhattan showroom to see these and more.

Designer testimonials:

"Control4 smart home technology has become a staple in all of Barroso Homes’ builds. We want to stand out. We want to be at the forefront of what technology has to offer. And we want to keep thinking outside of the box." Rose Barroso , Owner of Barroso Homes

“When you are in the home, the placement of the lighting, the type of lighting, and the illumination level is so perfect for each space. There is no way a normal electrician could have created what my Control4 professional achieved. They took my design and really brought it life.” Gary Frank , Architectural Designer

If you use conventional systems, you might end up with five to seven switches on a single wall, and then you are always guessing which switch is which. However, if you plan the electrical with a home automation system like Control4, you drop that down to one panel that allows the homeowner to access everything without the wall being cluttered. Gary Frank , Architectural Designer

“To put it simply: Once you go smart, you can never go back!” Suzi Kaloti , Lavish Design Build

Drinks on VIGO!
Kitchen and Bathroom designer VIGO was recently a featured participant in this year’s AN Cocktail Crawl. This exhibition of showrooms in New York City’s Flatiron District showcased designers’ latest products as well as some soon-to-be-released models that haven’t yet hit the market. The event had over 300 architects, designers, manufacturers, and buyers weaving in and out of VIGO’s NYC showroom throughout the entire evening. With good vibes, great food, and plenty of drinks to go around, guests were provided with a hands-on experience of what it means to live life with VIGO products. On display were VIGO’s exceptionally designed kitchen and bathroom sinks, faucet, and shower products. Fun for all who attended, this event is just one of many that VIGO will be hosting in the near future.
Vitrea, a global leader in the smart home technology is proud to have received the “Best Innovative Design Concept” award by the Interior Design Society (IDS), at the ICFF design show that was held in New York City last month.
For the past several years, Vitrea has offered complete home automation, wired and wireless, solutions for residentials and hospitality projects which combine advanced yet easy to use technology with design. Amir Seluk, VP Sales & Marketing says, “While many other companies offer home automation solutions, our goal is different. Vitrea aims to offer a complete technology and design solution, and that includes switches, keypads, socket covers, and thermostats. With the rise of visual-dominant sites and apps such as Pinterest and Instagram, people see that interior spaces can be designed right down to the last detail, so it’s no surprise that we’ve seen an increased interest in our custom glass touch smart switches and thermostats. We are excited by the amazing feedback we have been getting from various architects, designers and developers and are working close with them to learn how we can even more achieve our vision of integrating superior technology with innovative design”.
