Three years ago, Janine, DeAnne, and Shelley were hosting a girl’s card game night, with an assortment of fancy appetizers and drinks. That was when they came up with the idea for the fast-growing brand that is Crackerology. While developing new recipes, they learned that the crackers were fantastic by themselves, but even better when all the flavors were incorporated. After months of tweaks, more card nights, and several focus groups, they created a kit for the savvy grab-and-go consumer. Keeping apps quick, easy, and upscale. You can find them in numerous retailers but they can also be found at 1240 Swift Street.

Knockouts Haircuts for Men:
|
The story about the North Kansas City Knockouts is an awesome one. Tiffany Weir has been at Knockouts NKC for 9 years. She came to Knockouts straight out of cosmetology school. She then went on to get her Barber's license and has successfully managed the store for many years. She is an award winning Barber. When the franchisee who owned that shop wanted to sell it in May of 2022, Karin Friday partnered with Tiffany to buy the shop from him. They are both part owners of the store and hope to develop several more stores in the Kansas City area. Knockouts is an upscale barbershop that offers quality men's grooming services at competitive prices. You can find them located at 400 Armour Road.

The Big Rip Brewing Company:
The Big Rip Brewing Company opened in May of 2013 and has been growing ever since! Founded by two friends that started making their own beer and wine years ago, they decided to go in together to start this brewery! Their goal is to create unique beers that appeal to both beer-nerds and people new to craft beer. As if producing and serving their own beer wasn't cool enough, they also serve liquor, cocktails, wine and even some non-alcoholic drinks in their taproom! They do provide PJ Snacks Pretzels for purchase and you can also order on their Hawg Jaw BBQ Kiosk! The Big Rip Brewing Company brews small batches on a 4 bbl system that uses custom computerized control systems and glycol chilled fermenters, to ensure they get the best results every time! Make sure you add The Big Rip Brewing Company to your bucket-list of places to go this holiday season! They are located at 216 E. 9th Avenue.

Saying Goodbye to Smokin' Guns BBQ
|
|
After 20 years, the owners of Smokin' Guns BBQ, Phil and Linda Hopkins, took to social media to announce that they will be retiring from the restaurant business and closing their doors at 1218 Swift Avenue on November 11th. Their current hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-7pm.
Serving the Kansas City area since 2003, Smokin' Guns BBQ relocated in 2016 to a bigger building! They needed a place with more capacity after gaining popularity, becoming one of the staple BBQ restaurant's in the metro area. In 2010, they appeared on Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" and recently ranked 16th on a list of Kansas City's highest-rated barbeque restaurants on Tripadvisor. If you want a taste of what award-winning BBQ tastes like, hurry in! Before its truly too late. They will still be selling their sauces and rubs on their website and on a whole sale basis.
The North Kansas City Business Council and all of the North Kansas City community wishes the best to Phil and Linda!

NKCSD 8th Grade Manufacturing Tours
|
|
North Kansas City School district partnered with numerous places from the North Kansas City business community, to set-up 8th grade students on tours of different manufacturing business. Companies such as Tnemec, Stuppy Greenhouses, Exltube, Sterling Luxury Coaches, and several others, all opened their doors to these students in an effort to improve work-based learning experiences, to prepare them for life after high school. Beginning with last year's freshman class, NKC School District is reimagining the high school experience, including the following pathways:
- School of Business, Leadership and Entrepreneurship
- School of Design, Innovation and Technology
- School of Health and Wellness
- School of Human Services
As students begin to select pathways in the eighth grade, the school district realizes that they need to expose students to more opportunities before they select a pathway of interests. Manufacturing Tours did just that! Students were able to get an inside view of a company based upon the four pathways listed above. Exposure allows informed decisions to occur more often for students interested in careers within many of our local companies and organizations. Thank you to Shannon Shelton, Assistant Director of Work Based Learning for NKCSD and Doug Schmitz, Area Manager for Missouri Enterprise for helping put these tours together!
