NLBMDA Celebrates Max Guetz with
Distinguished Service Award
[Washington, DC] -The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA) was pleased to honor Max Guetz with the NLBMDA Distinguished Service Award. NLBMDA Chair, Bob Sanford surprised Max with the award during the annual ProDealer Award Dinner on October 8, during the ProDealer Industry Summit in Colorado Springs. Bob recognized Max for his years of service and contributions to NLBMDA, the Mountain States Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (MSLBMDA), and to the entire lumber and building material industry.

Max graduated from the University of Wyoming, and began his career in the lumber industry in 1983. Max joined his family business, the Home Lumber Company and was promoted to President of Home Lumber in April 2000. After a brief attempt to retire, Max returned to the industry that he loves and currently serves as Vice President of Alpine Lumber Company, headquartered in Westminster, Colorado.

Max has actively served on the MSLBMDA Board since 2001 and was President from 2007-2008. He has represented the association on the bipartisan Forest Health Task Force – tackling the complicated issues related to the pine beetle devastation plaguing Colorado’s forests. Max has attended the NLBMDA Spring Meeting and Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. for over 15 years, tirelessly advocating for sound legislation to improve the LBM Industry. Throughout his career, Max has enjoyed being a mentor and advocate for the industry.

He is also active in his community and serves in many volunteer capacities including with two special local charitable organizations. Brent's Place which is a private residential facility adjacent to Children’s Hospital. It serves lower income families whose children are undergoing cancer treatments and need a “clean room” facility to stay at. The second is Project Healing Waters an organization who serves our military returning from service who are suffering from PTSD. Max facilitates and leads several trips annually with our veterans to ensure that the healing powers of nature and fly fishing are accessible to all veterans in need.

"He is a visionary leader, and an inspiration to all," shared Bob Sanford, NLBMDA Chair. “Max has been a strong voice in Washington D.C. on behalf of NLBMDA and has dedicated his life to serving others. We are truly thankful to Max for his wonderful contributions to the LBM industry and for his selfless work with children and veterans in his community.”
