President’s Report
Since the last meeting of Provincial Executive, the President participated in several events and attended meetings in his capacity as President, including a Canadian Teachers’ Federation Board of Directors meeting and an Education Accord Advisory Committee meeting. President Langdon also participated in the Teachers Think Tank and Education Week kick-off event at Tricon Elementary, as well as several media interviews discussing the Teachers Think Tank and the Provincial Budget. Association Priorities
Updates on the NLTA Priorities for 2023-25 were provided to the Provincial Executive for review, questions and comment. The priorities are: Workload Concerns; Membership Well-being and Protection; Collective Bargaining and Services for Members; Retention, Recruitment and Resources; and, Advocacy on and Response to Government Initiatives. Business from Standing Committees
Table Officers
The NLTA will support the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Association – 34th Annual Crime Prevention Guide with the purchase of an advertisement.

Professional Issues Committee
The NLTA will award Danielle Doyle, a member of the Council of Special Services, the 2023-24 Barnes Award.

Equity Issues in Education Committee
- The NLTA will look at including a section on its website that provides information to aid in the creation of affirming spaces for 2SLGBTQIA+ educators, students, families and community members.
- The Association will consider reimaging its main boardroom space to be more equitable and inclusive.
- The NLTA will consider asking MUN, Faculty of Education, to investigate alternate models of delivery of the Bachelor of Education, including cohorts, online learning and satellite sites.

Communications/Political Action/Membership Engagement Committee
The NLTA will look to expand its current public awareness campaign, entitled Not Okay, to include capturing parent testimonials about resourcing issues in schools.

Discussion Topics
The following topics were reviewed and discussed by Provincial Executive: Inadequate school resources to meet student needs; OHS protocol at the school level; Paid professional learning; Retired teachers and SmartFind; CTF Retention and Recruitment Campaign; and Bill C-273 advocacy efforts.
