President’s Report
Since the last meeting of Provincial Executive, the President has participated in several events and attended meetings in his capacity as President, including a School Safety Coalition meeting, Teacher Allocation Review Committee meetings, Teacher Recruitment and Retention Committee meeting and a National Presidents Meeting in Saskatoon. The President also participated in several media interviews, including providing response to the 2025 Provincial Budget and detailing the Association’s public awareness campaign supporting teachers experiencing aggressive and negative social media attacks. Association Priorities
Updates on the NLTA Priorities for 2023-25 were provided to the Provincial Executive for review, questions and comment. The priorities are: Workload Concerns; Membership Well-being and Protection; Collective Bargaining and Services for Members; Retention, Recruitment and Resources; and, Advocacy on and Response to Government Initiatives. Business from Standing Committees
Table Officers
The NLTA will donate the following;
· $2,500 to the MUN Bachelor of Education (Primary/Elementary) Class of 2025 graduation gala.
· $3,000 to the MUN Education Society (Intermediate/Secondary) Class of 2025 graduation gala.
· $1,880 to support the Roots of Empathy programming for 2025-26.
· $500 towards the Blue Community Schools program, an initiative of the Council of Canadians.

Substitute Teacher Committee
The NLTA will lobby the employers to include substitute teachers in Professional Learning opportunities while they are under contract substituting for another teacher.

Professional Issues Committee
· The following policy changes have been approved: Professional Development, P. Professional Development Programs, 2. Professional Development Fund, a. Grants for Individuals, #1 and 4 were amended. The amended policy can be viewed here.
· The application to create a new Special Interest Council for Reading Specialists has not been approved. The NLTA does recommend that Reading Specialists explore joining the Council of Special Services (COSS) and that COSS create a Reading Specialist Executive position.

Membership Benefits and Services Committee
The following policy changes have been approved: Employee Assistance Program B. Membership Assistance, 1.g. was amended as follows: increase to $3,600 for members who enrolled in the program on or after September 1, 2025 and, for member enrolled prior to this date, for expenses incurred as of September 1, 2025. Equity Issues in Education Committee
The NLTA will consider conducting a review of the Code of Ethics through an equity lens.

Communications/Political Action/Membership Engagement Committee
The NLTA will discontinue its presence on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and transition to the BlueSky platform as one of its primary social media channels, effective as soon as operationally feasible; and further, that the NLTA encourage NLSchools to consider their continued presence on the platform given its increasingly harmful and toxic nature.

Other Business
· The NLTA will review the increased year-end workload for teachers resulting from the implementation of the new assessment policy.
· The NLTA will advocate for both employers to create a cultural orientation session for new hires from outside of the country.
· The NLTA will lobby the employers to grant TLAs access to Review 360, including the ability to submit reports documenting observed student behaviour(s).

Group Insurance Managers
Danielle Stanley has been appointed as a Group Insurance Manager for the Labrador Region, effective August 1, 2025, for the 2025-26 school year.

Election of Table Officers for 2025-27
The incoming Provincial Executive for 2025-27 elected Angela Dawe as a Table Officer. She joins Dale Lambe, Sean Weir and Trent Langdon as Table Officers.
