10 Counties Recognized for Audit Awards for FY 2022

NMC and the Office of the State Auditor selected Chaves, Curry, Doña Ana, Eddy, Lea, Los Alamos, McKinley, Roosevelt, and Sandoval Counties as recipients for the annual Audit and Accountability Awards and San Juan County for continued excellence. 

Three Counties Receive Detention Reaccreditation Awards

The Adult Detention Professional Standards Council (ADPSC) awarded a three-year Certificate of Reaccreditation to three County Facilities: San Juan, Santa Fe, and Valencia counties.

Valencia County Receives Sheriff's Office Accreditation

The New Mexico Sheriff’s Professional Standards Council (NMSPSC) awarded an initial three-year Certificate of Accreditation to the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office. This is the first sheriff’s office in New Mexico to earn its accreditation under this program. The Valencia County Sheriff’s Office was previously accredited through the New Mexico Municipal League program. 

Two County Misdemeanor Compliance Accreditations Awarded

Curry County received it's first Misdemeanor Compliance Program three-year certification accreditation and Lea County received another three-year reaccreditation.

Five Counties Receive Workers' Compensation Awards

Harding, Hidalgo, Rio Arriba, Lea, and Doña Ana counties received $7,000 for achieving a positive claim trend, and the lowest frequency of workers’ compensation claims for 2023.

11 Counties Receive RAP Awards

Grant, HIdalgo, Lincoln, Luna, McKinley, Sandoval, Sierra, Socorro, Taos, Torrance, and Valencia counties received RAP Awards for their continued risk awareness program involvement.

2024-2025 Wildfire Risk Reduction Program

The grant program assists communities throughout New Mexico in reducing their risk from wildland fire on non-federal lands.

Funding categories include:

• CWPP updates up to $25,000/project
• Education and outreach activities up to $20,000/project
• Hazardous fuels reduction projects up to $100,000/project

New Transportation Funding

Last year, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced $9.7 billion in funding for the Bridge Investment Program.

• Enhancing county infrastructure: This funding is an opportunity for counties to enhance local infrastructure through bridge rehabilitation and new construction projects.
• How to utilize: Counties can utilize this funding for contracting and planning bridges, with applications open now.

or provides accessibility modifications to homeowners who lack the resources to do so.

New WCA Judge Appointed

New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has appointed Ned S. Fuller to serve as a workers’ compensation judge for the Workers’ Compensation Administration (WCA). Fuller will assume his position on February 17, 2024, filling a vacancy created by the departure of Reginald Woodard in October 2023.
